In the heart of East Nashville, on June 5, 2019, The Russell Hotel will be open for business. After twelve months of tireless construction rehabilitating a 115 year old building, the church will redefine the term “adaptive reuse” with its use of space, its repurposing of existing church items, and its creative use of colors.

The process to completion has included installing gigantic steel beams to add support to the 30 foot ceiling, building load stabilizing pillars in the basement to anchor the new rooms, and hand-laying over 10,000 pieces of mosaic tiles to create an unforgettable foyer. Most importantly, the artisans on our team have spent 1,000s of hours re-exposing original features to the building such as the tower room, the original walls, wooden trusses and many other historically significant features.

At the small, private opening on Monday, June 3; Mayor Briley will help cut the ribbon and some of the team members will say a few words to welcome people into the hotel. However our most important goal is not to welcome the many guests who will come to enjoy the accommodations, but to open up the doors to a rejuvenated historic landmark and community center that has been a pillar of the neighborhood since 1905.

We hope everyone in the community will come visit The Russell to share in the culmination of our physical restoration and the celebration of joining the community. We cannot wait to host you and your friends!
